Aadhaar Card is a 12-digit unique identification number issued to residents of India by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), which serves as proof of both address and identity. The card contains biometric and demographic details of the cardholder such as name, address, date of birth, and fingerprints or iris scans. Aadhaar card is used as a proof of identity and address for various services such as opening bank accounts, getting a mobile connection, applying for government subsidies, and filing income tax returns. It is also used as a tool for verifying the identity of beneficiaries of various government schemes. To avail LPG subsidy, it is essential to link the LPG gas connection with the Aadhaar number.
To apply for an Aadhaar Card, residents of India can visit their nearest Aadhaar enrollment center. The documents required for Aadhaar enrollment are proofs of ID, address, and date of birth. For children, the necessary documents are the child’s birth certificate and Aadhaar card details of the parents. To apply for an Aadhaar card, one must visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre, fill the Aadhaar Enrolment form, and submit it along with the necessary documents. The executive will record the biometrics of the applicant, and an acknowledgment slip will be provided. After successful registration and verification, the Aadhaar card will be delivered within 90 days.
