Job Description:

The Adjuster investigates, adjusts, and settles property claims. The incumbent determines coverage and damages; and exercises independent discretion and judgment on claim handling.

What You’ll Do:

  • Investigates Personal Lines and Commercial Lines property damage claims for losses presented by insureds
  • Estimates property damage resulting from liability exposures
  • Contacts and interviews witnesses, agents, vendors, insureds, and claimants to gather pertinent information
  • Reviews police records, damage scopes and repair estimates
  • Completes physical inspection of damage to determine covered damage and write estimates
  • Interprets policy coverage accurately when investigating a loss
  • Documents investigation of losses and keeps file records
  • Uses discretion and independent judgment in paying losses after damages and liabilities have been established
  • Pays the loss after damages and liabilities have been established
  • Maintains company vehicle in proper mechanical working order and appearance
  • Studies training manuals, insurance books, pamphlets, and company policies in order to keep updated on accepted claim practices
  • Completes monthly expense reports per company requirements
  • Member of the claim catastrophe team
  • Climbs roofs for inspection of damages
  • Must be able to work outside in all temperatures and inspect property physically and visually
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Eligibility Criteria:

What You’ll Need:


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Typically requires 1-3 years of industry experience

Preferred or Specialized:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Prior P&C claim experience preferred

Certifications & Licenses:

  • Associate in Claims (AIC) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation preferred
  • Must have valid Driver’s License
